Things People Say to Pregnant Women

I know I've been pregnant before, but some of the things that people say to pregnant women still amaze (and yes, even offend) me. I get it, some people just don't know what to say to a pregnant woman. Guess what? You don't have to comment on her pregnant status at all!

"You don't look pregnant at all!" - Considering I've gained 20 lbs and am in my second trimester, there is no way I don't look pregnant at all.

"Wow, you're huge!" - Really? Is it ever okay to say those words in a sentence to a woman?

"You're glowing." - I never understand this one. If by glowing you mean, hot and exhausted with dark circles, then yes, I guess so.

"You still have a long way to go." - Why thank you. What you mean is, you're already that big and still have your last trimester ahead of you in which the most weight is gained. You're going to be huge (is how this is understand in pregnancy hormones).

"Are you going to eat all of that?" - Yes, I am. Don't think about trying to take food from my plate or comment any further about how much I just ate. I'm growing a human.

Here we are at 22 weeks!

Oh boy, It's a BOY!

Of course everyone wants to have one of each sex. I mean, it is the best of both worlds. From the minute I knew I was pregnant, I was calling the baby a boy. Paul said there is no way we could be so lucky and was pretty sure it was a girl.

Well, the only thing we could see at the 20 week ultrasound was a little weenie! Little Man would not cooperate to show us his heart, brain, organs - you know - the important stuff, but did show us what he is.
Paul may or may not have done a happy dance in the ultrasound room.

How did Ashlyn react to the news of a baby brother? "No, Mama, I have a sister!" We are trying to get her used to the idea but she now refers her baby as "Mama's baby." We're hoping when he arrives, she will like helping out and love him instead of torture him (as I did to my little brother and Paul's sister did to him). I guess it runs in the family and payback might be coming.

Ashlyn is going to be a big sister!

It's been a while since I've updated the blog, I sure have missed it! Ashlyn turned 2 this year and is definitely full of personality. Some of her favorite things include:
Elmo
Abby Cadabby
Barney
Cinderella
Playing with her baby dolls
Reading books
Playing make believe (which is so fun for me to watch)
Popsicles (orange and grape flavored)
Playing at the park
Watering our garden

Paul and I had been talking about having another baby. Little did we know we were already pregnant...oops! I went to the doctor in August for my "confirmation" and we saw a 3 month old baby inside. We are so excited to expand our little family.
